The FIFA World Cup 2010 with thousands of soccer fans from around the globe expected to arrive to make Africa’s first World Cup a fantastic success.

However there are millions of people in this country, mostly the rural communities of South Africa, who have limited opportunities to truly feel the soccer fever that is gripping this fantastic showpiece event.

And that’s where Boxer Superstores has stepped in. Boxer has identified towns around the country where people will have little or no chance of joining in the action and excitement of the World Cup. Boxer Superstores has been able to host 18 Public Viewing Areas around the country; enabling a live broadcast of at least 15 of the major games to the people, including all Bafana Bafana games, from the first opening match against Mexico on the 11th June, right up and including the Final.

This is all part of Boxer's mission to invest back into the communities in which it trades and serves.

Each of the Public Viewing Areas, operating with commercial licenses from FIFA, will incorporate a huge screen, big enough for the expected thousands of people who will attend these events, with stands of Boxer's suppliers, plus a ConCom Blue Zone, which will incorporate Bluetooth technology for the local communities. Bluetooth technology via mobile phones is massive in rural and peri-urban areas, as the lack of any form of fixed line internet is a major drawback.

According to research, people in these areas rely on Bluetooth as a means of communication, and a way of downloading music files and swapping them with friends.

Within the Public Viewing Areas, called Boxer Superstores World Cup Diski Imbizos, there will be a Bluetooth proximity, which will enable all those who attend to enter many supplier competitions and promotions and stand the chance of winning lots of prizes at the Boxer Diski Imbizos. Also the people from the communities will be able to download wall paper pictures and licensed music tracks from popular local artists, totally free of charge via ConCom's cutting edge technology! This is a “First Time Event” where such technology has been brought into many parts of South Africa!

As added value, the Public Viewing Areas will be hosting several small soccer tournaments for youngsters, lucky draws and local artists, to make these events really community orientated. And with the downloads that ConCom's Bluetooth technology will bring to the thousands of soccer supporters at each of the 18 Boxer Diski Imbizos what people will be able to store on their cellular phones will last long after the final of the Soccer World Cup.
